Ingredients: A fine Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe Whole Leaf Tea from Assam and ‘Madagascar Bourbon’ Vanilla planifolia bits.
Suggested Water Temperature: 212 F – Suggested Infusion Time: 5 Minutes.
Preparation: Bring fresh water to the boil. Warm up your tea pot by rinsing it with hot water. Fill one teaspoon per 6 oz cup of this Black Tea into the preheated tea pot or preferred cup. Pour the hot water into the tea. Let infuse up to 5 Minutes and serve. Remove infuser or pour your tea into another tea-pot or thermos carafe. Using an infuser or ‘Permanent Tea Filter’ for your cup or pot makes it easy to separate the leaves from the beverage after steeping.
Culinary notes: Because of its fresh-spicy and darker character this Black Tea is offered as a choice with stronger foods, vegetarian, macrobiotic or vegetable recipes and special desserts including fruits, stronger cheese selections. Suitable as afternoon and High Tea choice.
Known as the ‘queen of spices’ the Vanilla planifolia is a variety of the vanilla orchid. Our Prime Madagascar species contains a high content of precious vanillin. Around the world the Vanilla planifolia is now considered an endangered species. To grow the Vanilla planifolia fruit (commonly called bean) the pollination has currently to be performed by hand as the mature blossoms last only a day and self-pollinating is, due to climate variations, reduced to minimum results. After harvesting the fruits (pods/beans) are cured and fermented to preserve the essential oils and extract.
